Established in 2001 by Scott & Kimee Massie, Innervenus has always been about rEvolution, personal and/or otherwise. Now, after a decade of following our original concept and 20-something vision, we’ve restructured and compartmentalized so that we can put better focus on what we’re here for. If you are looking for the “art” division of Innervenus that used to handle graphic design and marketing, it has recently branched off to form a new company, Fresh Coffee Creative. Please visit our recently developed sister site, www.freshcoffeecreative.com.
As for the music, the new vision we have for Innervenus is not much different than the original one depicted in the essay “The Muse/Sick Business” (from the liner notes of the 2003 Innervenus Compilation CD – Ursa Major: RA14h3m7.05 D59°33’.46”). It’s about bringing things down to a pure, artistic level and putting more into the art form itself rather than the so-called “standard” or the “red tape”. It’s about going back to the primitive… utilizing the old school DIY theory and gorilla promotional tactics, but doing so in a modern fashion.
Or maybe it’s none of that. Maybe it’s just what we love to do. I wouldn’t call it a hobby per se, but it’s no Warner Brothers either. Sure, there’s money to be made and exposure to be had, I’m not anti-business or establishment by any means, and I’d be lying to deny my own married-old-guy-rock-star-pipe-dreams, but if it ever does get “big”, it will be because the ideas were right and the response to said ideas was good, not because we manufactured something simply because we thought it would sell. Or would we??? More on that later.
Over the last few years, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with the likes of Mockingbird, Entropy, Molasses Barge, Vulture, Invader, Necrolysis & Storm King, and have recently developed the new compilation series, Iron Atrocity – A documentation of the Pittsburgh metal scene. And this is only the beginning.
We move forward.
